AnimationThis animation shows how a dangerous abdominal aortic aneurysm is treated by inserting a new lining (a stent graft) into it via small tubes that are passed up from leg arteries. The stent graft channels blood flow through the anurysm, providing a "internal bypass" and preventing rupture. More dangerous open abdominal surgery is avoided. If you are having trouble viewing this animation, you may need the most recent QuickTime plugin (free).
